Reindeer

Here's a bit on interesting info I received via e-mail:

According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, while both male and female reindeers grow antlers in the summer each year, male reindeer drop their antlers at the beginning of winter, usually late November to mid-December. Female reindeer retain their antlers till after they give birth in the spring.

Therefore, according to EVERY historical rendition depicting Santa 's reindeer, EVERY single one of them, from Rudolph to Blitzen, had to be a girl.

We should've known... ONLY women would be able to drag a jolly ole fat man in a red velvet suit all around the world in one night and not get lost!!

Home

I returned home from Texas Friday night tired (flight was late), with a sinus infection, and a heavy heart.

I love visiting (and working!) with Beth, Mark and the kids... But leaving makes me realize just how much I miss her! I love that she is just a phone call away, but I hate that I can't get into my Tahoe and drive to her house!

Simply put: I miss my friend!

HOWEVER.... Being in Texas with the Tanner family was sooooo much fun! Busy, yes, we were very busy... But I got to go to Ikea & Cabelas, spend time with the boys, see Anna Grace move her petite body across the floor in an Army Crawl kinda way and eat lots of baby food, and of course spend time with Beth. Our friendship has survived many bumps in the road, but I will never let another bump happen! Good friends are hard to find, and I have learned that you must nurture the ones you've got!!!

She even introduced me to this phenomenal store called 'Hobby Lobby'! Wow... what a fun store! (There are 9 HL's in SC and another on the way but they are ALL over an hour and 1/2 away! UGH!)

To top it all off, on the way to the airport we visited The Container Store. In my world, The Container Store is a little slice of heaven! They should be franchises and I should own one! (In a perfect kind of world!) The closest store is in Atlanta.... over 5 hours away!!! Not Good!

Merry Christmas, ya'll!

Here is a 'sneak peak' at a few of the photos that were taken at our Christmas Photo Shoot. These are not the best, but they'll do!

Mimi took the photos at The Angel Oak on Johns Island.
I did the actual family Christmas photo at Costco.com on Saturday night .. 50 photos including envelopes for $17.00.
I get to pick them up on Monday morning... not bad!!!
Merry Christmas!!

Mimi and Gordie

Mom (affectionately called 'Mimi' by Ashton when he was a little boy, and it stuck) came into town this weekend. We shopped all day today... in the rain! It was fun, especially since I purchased CUTE rubber boots! We were exhausted when we got home, so mom changed into some comfy clothes and was relaxing on the couch when Gordie decided he needed to be close to MIMI!

Can you tell who rules the roost!!!!?!!
:-)

Bathroom Tile... Our 1st one!

Well, I got this 'wild hair' and decided that I wanted to Tile our guest bathroom before Mom got here for the weekend. So, I signed Shawn & I up for the Tile Class at Home Depot last Saturday morning. It was an informative class and we felt like we had learned enough to be dangerous! We purchased the necessary items and returned home to TILE THE BATHROOM! After Shawn had worked for a few hours measuring, remeasuring, cutting and placing the tiles, we realized that we were 7, count that, 7 tiles SHORT!! Ohhhh... I was in trouble!! The typical response would be "Go to Home Depot and purchase 7 more tiles"... The problem was that I had been given the tiles and was told (by an obvious non-tiler) that we had enough to tile the floor. All of this occured after 9pm on Saturday night, so we cleaned up and went to bed.

I got up at the early on Sunday morning to be at Home Depot when they opened to purchase the correct amount of New Tile.

With all said tile purchased, I returned home to a weary hubby who was such a good sport. He measured, cut and mortared his hiney off all morning. We had to wait 24 hours for the mortar to dry so he got to enjoy the race and rest his back.

Monday Shawn reset the toilet, grouted the tile and we are COMPLETE!!

Check out Shawn in action and the result!

Good job, honey.... Now only one more bathroom AND our kitchen to go!! :-)

Reynolds Slow Cooker Liner No Scrub RV Club... WE WON!!!

I entered my Dad & Stepmom into the 'Reynolds Slow Cooker Liner No Scrub RV Club' in February. They had to take a photo of the them with a Slow Cooker Liner Box while vacationing in their RV. They took the photo in front of the Yellowstone National Park sign.

I received a call on Friday informing me that we had won!

The GRAND PRIZE was a $1000.00 gift card to Camping World!!

So, since I found the contest and my parents took the photo, and I entered them into it, we are splitting the prize!

I am soooo excited to have "Free" money to spend at Camping World!!! :-)

Conception Calendar

According to my Conception Calendar, this is the week that I am *fertile*!!!

"You are fertile today. Your chances to becoming pregnant are good. If you conceive today, your baby will born 23 June 2008, and he will be Cancer." per www.yourdays.com

WOW... That statement is scary.... Scary to me bacause it is said in such a matter-of-fact way (which shouldn't be scary, but I am such a 'freak' and I over-think everything!) AND scary because that would mean that I would be a *Big*Pregnant*Lady* during some HOT Southern Summer days & nights!! UGH!~!

Well, I guess now that we have made the decision to have a baby, I want to be pregnant NOW! ! I am sooo impatient that the whole '1 week of being fertile' makes me ill! And in my mind, that's just not long enough!!!??

Ok, So I'm off to "enjoy" my Fertile Week!

Wish us some luck, please!!! :-)

Are we SURE we want to do this?!?!

Well, Shawn and I have decided to 'trash' the pills and attempt to get PREGNANT!
(As seen in the above photo!!!)

This is such a scary time for me because I continue (during the 2 days that I have officially been off the pill...ha-ha) to rethink this decision.... Am I doing the right thing? Am I too old for a baby? Can I survive with little sleep? Can I survive with out my continuous flow of Coca-Cola? Will I be a good mommy? How will Gordie (our 'first born', a mini dachshund who we adore!) react to the change? Can I really handle giving birth? Can we really afford a baby?
So many questions....

So I have created this blog to be my 'sounding board' through this process!
Any advice, thoughts, encouragement, and prayers is graciously accepted and appreciated!! :-)
Ok, So here we go............
